V-Cat Trucking is a contract trucking company that supplies dump trucks and operators to local construction companies throughout middle Tennessee. They currently have 14 Freightliner 122SDs that travel anywhere between five to 75 miles to construction sites each day, and put in 10 to 12 hours of work.

On the job, their trucks haul a wide variety of materials, including shot rock, hammered rock, fill dirt, topsoil, quarry stone, sand, asphalt, and demolition materials. The versatile 122SD handles well on interstates and local streets, while performing in off-road conditions, including dirt, rock, mud, and over uneven and severe terrain. V-Cat Trucking’s drivers say the Freightliners ride better than previous trucks in these conditions, and are roomier and more comfortable.

“Every day, we put our trucks in extreme situations, and the 122SDs always seem to be up to the test,” said Jarid Smith, operations manager of V-Cat Trucking. “We had a lot of service issues with other brands of trucks, which led to lots of downtime and lost productivity. One of the worst things for a driver is to not be able to work because their truck is in the shop. Thankfully, we have experienced very little of this with our Freightliner trucks.”

Smith lauded Neely Coble Company and its service department for demonstrating superior quality and expertise in dealing with the V-Cat fleet. Neely Coble is one of Freightliner’s Elite SupportSM Certified dealers. They offer customers unmatched customer service and efficiency, including Express Assessment, which means within two hours of service write-up the dealer will communicate a primary diagnosis, check parts availability, and provide an estimated cost and repair time. In addition, their technicians receive continual training and they keep a wide breadth of parts in stock to get customers back on the road faster.

“Neely Coble Company has outstanding sales and service departments,” said Smith. “Whether it’s routine maintenance, or the minimal service issues we’ve had, they always go above and beyond to help us out. We look forward to many years of a beneficial relationship with our local dealership.”

V-Cat Trucking has 11 Freightliner 122SDs that put in 10 to 12 hours of work each day.
