Nashville Adds Seven Freightliner Ambulances to Fire Department

To keep up with a growing demand, the Nashville Fire Department recently added seven new Freightliner M2 106 ambulances to their fleet.

In recent years, the nature of calls for emergency assistance to the Nashville Fire Department has changed dramatically. Now 80 percent of the calls to 911 in the city are for medical emergencies as opposed to fires. This shift is a driving factor in the need for additional ambulances. The new ambulance chassis were sold by Neely Coble Company of Nashville, TN. With the increased number of ambulances in Nashville comes the need for crews to staff them. The Nashville Fire Department has created an additional 33 jobs for paramedics and first responders in the city.

“It is crucial for the Freightliner M2 106 ambulances to be efficient and reliable because they are in use 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” said Neely Coble, owner of Neely Coble Company. “Paramedics and first responders sacrifice their safety every day on the job, and it's imperative that they have reliable and durable transportation and equipment. These are the first Freightliner M2 106 ambulances the city has purchased, and they are pleased with them.”
