Last month we celebrated Des Moines, Iowa, as the tenth city to join the ranks of Freightliner Trucks Hardest Working Cities.

Our first stop on our trip to Des Moines, in partnership with Harrison Truck Centers, was a surprise job site visit at Keystone Trucking to serve breakfast sandwiches and burritos from Hy-Vee. Workers showed up bright and early to grab food and chat with us under a pink sunrise.

The next stop was the AWPA North American Snow Conference, where we held a special Hardest Working Cities award presentation in the Freightliner booth. Mayor Frank Cownie accepted the award on behalf of the city and gave a short speech about the importance of hard work and what it has accomplished for the Des Moines area.

At the AWPA North American Snow Conference, Freightliner had snow plows on display so attendees could check out their tough vocational trucks built to withstand the winter elements. To learn more about our snow plow trucks, visit our website or talk to your dealer.

The following day we made another surprise job site visit to Johnsrud Transport, which is a recognized leader in the transport of bulk liquids for the food industry.

Lastly, we visited Ankeny Sanitation Inc. (ASI) with a full lunch spread from local favorite Smokey D’s BBQ, including brisket, pulled pork, mac n’ cheese, and coleslaw. ASI provides waste management services to residents, businesses, contractors, and municipal customers throughout the greater Des Moines/Ankeny metro area and surrounding communities.
